These Gazetteers are a great source of biographical information. The
information in these Gazetteers was obtained via contemporaneous
interviews. While often cited by genealogists as a "source" it is
important to realize that the information provided the interviews may
contain "family lore" that, while generally accepted, may deviate from
fact.
If you know the town your ancestor lived in, simply click that town in the gazetteer's menu, then either browse the town or use your browsers "Find In Page" feature to locate your families surname. If you don't know the town, then use our new search feature on our Home Page to locate your ancestors surname wherever it occurs on this web site.
Many thanks Laura Greene and her team of transcribers for all the work they put into making this available to us.
